Pam Ryherd - Lead Teacher

“My passion is teaching and I couldn't imagine a day without the sweet smiles of my students.”

Mrs. Ryherd joined the GSES family in 2016. She is originally from Illinois and has a B.S. in Elementary Education from Illinois State University. Mrs. Ryherd has over 30 years of teaching experience ranging from prek-6th grade to Montessori. She lived in China from 1989-1992 where she was the Principal and a Teacher of Shenyang American Academy. Before moving to Austin, Mrs. Ryherd lived in El Paso for 21 years where she taught 1st grade, and 3rd grade  for 17 years at a private catholic school.

 Elizabeth Fehr - Lead Teacher

“I work with the best teachers and administrators at GSES! Our community is extremely supportive and wonderful.”

Ms. Fehr joined the GSES family in 2012. She grew up in Austin and has a degree in social work from the University of Texas. She later returned to UT and earned a Teaching Certification (Early Childhood through 6th Grade). Ms. Fehr provides a fun and safe environment for her students, and through modeling, helps children learn good problem solving skills. She encourages their creativity through play, music, and art projects. Ms. Fehr strives to make a difference in her students’ lives. In her free time, she enjoys reading and listening to books and podcasts. Her favorite hobby is making cards and other paper crafts.

Rachel Duree - Lead Teacher

“My favorite part of GSES is the relationships I develop with my students and families each year. We have the most incredible and supportive staff and community! It makes being a teacher here a dream come true.”

Mrs. Duree joined the GSES Family in 2012. As a lead teacher, she works hard to provide an educational environment where every child feels safe, loved, supported and successful. Mrs. Duree develops a strong rapport with her students and families and makes it a goal every year to meet each child where they are developmentally and to prepare them academically and socially for their next year of school. “I offer a hand to hold, a voice to encourage, a story to tell, a hug to give, experiences to guide, an ear to listen, and a laugh to share each and every day.” Mrs. Duree grew up in Ft. Lauderdale where she earned a degree in Communications from Florida Atlantic University. She also has a Texas Teaching Certification for Early Childhood - 6th Grade. Mrs. Duree and her husband have two boys (who both attended GSES) and a Golden Retriever named Daisy. In her free time, she enjoys being with her family, swimming, skiing, traveling, playing sports and an occasional home design project.

Hannah Boone - Assistant Teacher

“GSES holds such a special place in my heart. The community is so unique and I love being a small part in creating an environment where kids get to be kids.”

Ms. Boone joined the GSES family in 2015. She grew up in Friendswood, Texas and attended the University of Texas where she earned a degree in Youth and Community Studies. She is the youngest of six kids and she has 12 nephews and nieces with more on the way! Hannah works hard to create an environment where kids can learn through play. Together with her co-teacher, she provides a safe and nurturing place for kids to express their unique personalities and grow alongside their peers. In her free time, Ms. Boone enjoys the outdoors with friends and family. She loves trying new restaurants, finding new places to swim in and around Austin and is involved in her local church.

Alma Rivera - Assistant Teacher

I love GSES because I have been given the tremendous opportunity to share my knowledge and to develop my passion by working with amazing children.”

Ms. Rivera joined the GSES community in 2017. Ms. Rivera grew up in Sonora, Mexico where she lived until she was 18 years old. Ms. Rivera has two daughters ages 32 and 19. She has a 29 year old son, and lives with her daughter who is pursuing a degree at the McCombs School of Business at UT Austin. Ms. Rivera has earned a Special Education Teaching Certificate from Austin Community College and is close to completing a Child Development Associate Degree. Ms. Rivera works hard to make the children feel like they are in a comfortable space where they can develop and learn to their fullest potential. Ms. Rivera enjoys working with families to ensure strong communication that supports each child. In her free time, Ms. Rivera enjoys staying connected to her Mexican culture. She and her daughter participate in many Folklorico events. Ms. Rivera enjoys taking Salsa and Cumbia dance classes!

Katherine Allen - Assistant Teacher

“My roots to Good Shepherd run deep. My daughter attended the school and we continue to be involved in the Parish community. The love here is palpable and it nourishes my soul to the bone.”

Mrs. Allen joined the GSES community first as a substitute teacher in 2018. She became an assistant teacher in January of 2019. Mrs. Allen went to to the University of Texas at Austin where she earned a Fine Arts degree in Studio Art. Mrs. Allen also attended the Art Institute of Houston where she received a commercial certification for Advertising Art and Graphic Design. Mrs. Allen ran her own graphic design studio for many years. Mrs. Allen and her husband, a family physician have a 23 year old daughter who currently works at Starbucks. In her free time, Mrs. Allen enjoys traveling to Fort Worth to see new exhibits at the Kimbell Art Museum. She also enjoys wandering out west for some fresh air and star gazing at the McDonald Observatory or Big Bend National Park.
